Joining Desjardins Capital in 2018 was a natural next step in François Morrissette’s career path, which included a stint as a portfolio manager at Investissement Québec. For 17 years he carried out financial transactions for cooperatives and non-profit organizations (NPOs), mainly in the Chaudière-Appalaches, Capitale-Nationale and Saguenay–Lac-St-Jean regions. In addition, he handled specific accounts in the Greater Montreal area for worker shareholder cooperatives (WSCs). François has also served as a financial analyst in regional development and a small business manager.

Qualifications

François has been a member of Ordre des administrateurs agréés du Québec since 1998. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a specialization in small business from Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières and a master’s degree in administration science with a specialization in management from Université Laval in Quebec City. Over the years, he has served on and chaired the boards of directors of various organizations in his field.

Unicoop, an agricultural cooperative, truly represents the strength of collective entrepreneurship. The cooperative has 4,000 farmer and consumer members, employs 400 people and is firmly rooted in its community. Its $220 million in annual earnings has a positive impact on the agricultural, machinery, retail and energy sectors.
