Jessy Mélançon

Jessy has helped drive Desjardins’s success in a variety of roles for over 20 years, including eight as a manager. Beginning his career with Desjardins as a student in 1993, he subsequently worked his way up through the ranks as a personal finance advisor, account manager, risk management manager and business development manager before joining Desjardins Capital as an investment manager.

Qualifications

Jessy holds a CEGEP diploma in marketing, a bachelor’s degree in business administration, majoring in finance, from Bishop’s University and a master’s degree in business administration (MBA), majoring in management, from Université de Sherbrooke.
Over the years, Jessy has been involved in several organizations and served as a member, treasurer and vice-president of finance on various boards of directors.

What would an entrepreneur say about you?

That I’m a partner you can count on. That I’m inquisitive and keen, I like to know what makes things tick. I always pull out all the stops to support an entrepreneur, whatever the challenge or the situation. That I’m committed, reliable, honest and transparent, and I have strong analytical skills.

What great business story inspires you?

I really admire entrepreneurs who’ve been able to go through tough times and come out ahead. Being an entrepreneur is not just a slow boat down a peaceful river: it’s the white water that shows off a good captain. I particularly recall one entrepreneur who was having trouble arranging a line of credit to get his business through a tight spot. My team and I helped him out. Ten years later, he and his sons sold the business to Canadian interests for tens of millions of dollars, and the operation and the jobs stayed in the region.
